I was looking for a replacement chair for my home office. I started looking at chairs in various price ranges and could not make up my mind.I then thought about the chair that I have at my employer's office: Steelcase Amia. My employer replaced every older chair with the Amia. It is indeed a comfortable and adjustable chair. The chairs have been in operation for over 3 years and I don't ever recall anybody complaining about them in the comfort and reliability areas. So I started looking at Amia offerings on Amazon. For the most part the going price was within spitting distance of $800. At this time I also saw another Steecase offering and that was the Leap chair. It had from what I could determine better adjustments and back support features. Again this comes at a cost... an $80 premium over the Amia. Based on my very positive experience with Steelcase and the added back support/adjustment features of the Leap I went all in for the Leap. And while I was at it I opted to go with black leather for easier cleaning. OK.. now I am up to $1200.The shipping estimate for this chair from Steelcase was a bit of a trip. It started out with a 1-3 month wait. After about a week that got refined to 6-10 weeks. Then after another week the shipping date was 10-14 days. The chair was shipped completely assembled and was in perfect condition. After getting it setup I am glad I made the decision to go with the Leap over the Amia.I liked the seat angle adjustment better on the Leap as well as the reclining tensioning control. The curvature of the back support for the Leap is also superior in conjunction with its lumbar support adjustment. The leather was very good in quality and seems like it will hold up with time. I also found that lumbar support on the Leap to be (for me) much more effective over the Amia (which was already very good). The reclining angle adjustment had a mix of defined angle stops along with a setting for continuous angle adjustments. This combined with the tension control makes it easy to find the right setting. Overall I am very pleased with this chair from a comfort, adjustability and quality point of view. The cost? Yes it is not cheap but I am feeling confidant that over time it will pay for itself. I have sat in it for many hours and find myself refreshed with no back issues. The construction is top notch and I anticipate many trouble free years of operation. In short I would highly recommend this product for those looking for a comfortable, adjustable, high quality chair. ... and willing to spend the $$$.We have two of these in our office, and one in my home office. I love them. They are very comfortable (especially for long days in the chair) and highly adjustable. For context, I’m a big guy at 250+ pounds. I wouldn't have an office without one. I got mine closer to $1k on sale so if you're not in a hurry you might wait until the price drops. Ignore the negative reviews. It’s not the fault of the chair if someone got a red chair when they ordered a black one or a fabric chair when they ordered a leather one. Ours are all black leather.I was a little concerned ordering such a high priced office chair through Amazon. Before it arrived I was already thinking about what I would have to go through if the chair arrived in anything less than new condition or damaged. The chair arrived in a huge Steelcase box, fully assembled, in perfect condition. The chair was exactly as advertised by Backstore. This chair looks professional, fits in with the professional office environment, and is as comfortable as a chair could be for extended periods of desk work.I ordered this chair in what I thought would be all black. The only thing black on this chair is the frame. So be aware that you will receive a different chair color of whatever the company chooses. So black means black frame with a bright red seat.comfortable enough but it forces me to sit properly :). Should have ordered one with a headrest.Love this chairThe chair was supposed to be a black leather chair. What was delivered was black cloth. It caused backpain from the pressure of the lumbar support. I finally found a position to minimize the back pressure from the chair. Very cheap thin leather and not enough seat cushion over- priced
