It's not meant to be a leak proof, sealed mug so let's get that out the way.I was frustrated having to microwave my coffee or dilute it with more hot water to keep it warm, so I bought this.It definitely holds heat longer but still not as long as I'd hoped. I think it's mainly to do with the starting temperature. After using my stove top and adding milk, my coffee does not start off particularly hot. So even with the thermos mug it can get to luke warm quite quickly. If you start off at boiling then my experiment show that it will maintain 'hot' temperature. I ended the experiment at 25 mins. The Thermos was at 76 degress, which was still nice to drink. The normal mug was at 53 degrees, which was an unsatifying luke warm.Key takeaway: even with this Thermos mug you need to get that coffee nice and hot to start with to really appreciate the heat preservation.Make sure to read the care instructions about washing and treatment of the cup before using. Just a little heads up. ?Bought this for when I buy take out coffee. What with coronavirus. I started to realise how many people touch those disposable cups and lids and thought this would be a great way of staying extra safe.I would of happily given top marks but for the fact its advertised as leak proof. But the sticker on the cup itself says its NOT! I had read some reviews before hand so I already knew it wasn't. I wasn't bothered about that aspect of it. If they removed the leak proof wording from the description then I think its a five star item for the price. Its the lies that are letting them down. As usual with sellers on here though I suppose.Be good to each other. ☺️Another point. The sponge on the base seems thin. And they've stuck all the stickers there too. Don't expect this to last long. Hope it doesn't ruin the cup itself. If so. 1 stars. Will get back to you about this in a few weeks with an update. I think the best thing about Amazon is that we the consumer can have our say. Which helps others to make informed decisions. Stay safe and if you found this helpful. Great. ?I love this mug, it's great for its intended purpose, which is to keep your drink hotter for longer. I'm not sure why people are moaning about it not being leak proof, it's not intended to be. If you're going to throw it in a bag/backpack with a drink inside it, then of course its going to leak - it's NOT a travel mug. On the other hand, if you're going to fill it with hot coffee or tea, and place it on your desk/workbench/coffee table/camping table etc, and expect it to keep your drink hotter for longer, it's brilliant. It'll stay hotter for even longer if you 'prime' it by filling it first with boiled water to get the stainless steel hot, then empty the water out and run your freshly brewed coffee into the mug. Also, don't chuck it into a washing up bowl full of soapy water and leave it soaking, as the spongy base will take in water. Just a quick dip and a swish around inside the mug will do. As long as its used for its intended purpose and cleaned how the instructions tell you, it's awesome! In a world where coffee is nearby 24/7/365 you need a good mug to see you through the day and I would highly suggest this be the one you choose.I've used it for hot or cold brewed coffee and it'll either keep it warm or cool for a good while. Which is brilliant if you're a slow drinker or easily distracted. It has this weird thumb rest on the handle that is oddly satisfying to put your thumb on... I honestly can't explain it but it gives me strange satisfied tingles to hold... No, I'm not weird it's just a nice cup!The only downside to this otherwise amazing mug is that the lid isn't leak-proof so I can't throw it in my bag on my way to work and not worry about it, I have to carry it. Have you tried carrying a mug and a phone at the same time while trying to get on/off of a bus? It's a nightmare! The lid does make up for it though by having a slider so you can open/close the ...mouth hole? (I don't know what to call that). It has a small hole and a large hole so you can adjust it to how much you want which is great for when you switch between using it for hot and cold drinks like I do.The fact that this is not leakproof isn't made very clear and for me that was disappointing as i'd not have bought this had I realised. My fault, I should have put more time into researching it, but nevertheless.......This leaks through the lid, specifically the turntable style centre section which you turn to reveal the slot for drinking through. As for everything else, it's nice to look at, touch and hold although i'm not comfortable with how easily the inner shell slips out, nor how tightly the lid fits but compared to the leak thing those are a minor niggles and I can't say it's affected things as of yet but early days on that one.It keeps a coffee warm for long enough for my needs which is about an hour to ninety minutes but do start off with a very hot liquid. My bean to cup machine can't kick it out hot enough so i'll use this for instant coffee using kettle boiled water or, I might try making myself a latte and finishing it off in the microwave before putting it into this cup.I guess it's handy for the office and that's what i'll end up using it for, i'll find something else to take out when on my early morning walks because this ain't it.
