I bought my fist one back in the 1980s, and still have it. The backing disintegrated after at least 20 years (left a hard-to-remove mark on my wooden desk), but the pad is still usable. Keep an eye on the 'padding' on the rear side, but, other than that, you should be very happy with it. My latest one arrived without a crease from packing/shipping, so no issue there either.
