This rug's design is rather neutral and will go with most room designs.I've learned the hard way the importance of protecting hardwood floors from the rolling desk chair. Previously, I used a hard-vinyl mat, and that tended to accumulate grit beneath it and so that would grind into the floor. I discovered this too late.At least with this mat I won't make the situation worse. The backing does hold the mat in place, and it doesn't ripple with chair movement.My only caution is that I've just had to refinish saltillo tiles where a silicon mat had, over the years, left black residue on the tiles. It is ridiculously hard to remove. This isn't the same kind of mat or backing. But still, it is black so I will be checking periodically.
