Globe Electric 5698601 Adjustable Swing Arm Desk Lamp with Heavy Base - Black Metal Study Lamp for Office, Reading, Dorm Room & Home Workspace

This GLobe Electric swing arm light was just what I needed for the close work I do in my art studio. What I like is that it reminds me of the old fashioned desk lamps of years ago....the base is very sturdy so that when you adjust the lamp, it doesn't fall over. Also the lamp does not take up a ton of space on your desk or workspace. I had no trouble assembling the lamps ( I bought two). the lamps are made of qulity material and look good on the desk...they can take several types of bulbs as well, I'm glad I purchased these lamps in black, works well with my decor in the studio..I tried and tried to get the bottom part to move, last night when it got here. No luck.Then, this morning, I had a brainstorm: I removed the obvious bolt/nut, the one not in black like the others, and voilà! Victory.I had a call into globe, and then called back to cancel it.I did get an email from them, and I strongly urged them to add to the instructions that you MUST remove that one bolt and nut entirely so that the bottom half will move as it's supposed to.I like the lamp, now that I figured it out.The switch is defective and the desk lamp needs to be replaced.This lamp provides strong light using a 60 watt equivalent LED bulb. There is a plastic headed thumbscrew on the base that must be removed to move the swing arm sideways unless you prefer it locked in place. Also, the lower swing arm has a middle cross headed screw that should be removed to get maximum movement back and forth. This is not described in the instructions. All in all a very good, flexible desk lamp for the money.Amazing and works as stated, best purchase in awhileEasy off-on which is nice ...decent motion, could be better ...BUT the lamp cover does not lock in place, works loose. Gave the rating a 4. Oh, if you select black ....prepare for a dust collector.Bae is quite heavy...lamp has no stability problems. I use screw in LED lamps vs lamps with build in LED's as I have had the built in's fail and have to toss the whole lamp.The brightness is a function of the bulb used, not the fixture. It handles the desired daylight LED bulb fine and produces the light quality I was looking for in my home office. Not much else to say.Bottom line? Get another model...The main issue I have with it is the bottom arm being fixed. It can't move. Period. I don't know what they were thinking but... everything is there for the lower arm to be able to move, but they screwed it in place to make sure it doesn't. There are 2 springs that are basically useless and are only there for show (and when I looked at the pictures before I bought, they fooled me as I was certain the lower arm would move). Now.... you can do as I did and remove one screw and have *some* movement. But as others said, it quickly becomes unbalanced and will tilt... if you're not careful. Aaaaaaaaanyways... I did remove that screw... And also installed a Nooie smart LED bulb in there (they are kind of heavy).... and well..... it works. So, I'm not going to bother returning it, in the end it's......... fine. But I'm not recommending it.item arrived broken !!! looks like it was broken before got packed even...so...?????after talking to customer service was told to not to send back anything just discard it and wait for another one to arrive, that's what i did...and now you trying to double charge me for item ?? that WILL BE A LAST TIME I AM DEALING WITH YOU, AS WELL AS MY FRIENDS AND FAMILYSHAMEFirst of all, how a product that has 181 ratings with a 4 star average is somehow complete garbage.The item itself didn't come in a box or a package it came it the box you would buy off the shelf with a shipping label attached. Completely broken box. It was tapped on one end. I would take a picture but of what? There isn't enough of a box to take a picture of.The product... The product was just as garbage as the box. Everything bent. The globe lamp part was not a globe but just a very squished circle made into a oval ( probably from Shipping ) .. I took it out of what little of the box was left and to my surprise a screw fell out... Where does it attach? Your guess is as good as mine.It's sad that I can't even donate the item or salvage it in any way. It's completely useless.La lámpara es muy barata, entonces la verdad no me puedo quejar, pero el diseño de la lámpara está mal. Los resortes de la parte inferior son de adorno, se supone que están ahí para balancear el movimiento de la lámpara, pero están atornilladas esas partes para eliminar el movimiento. Lo que hice fue quitar los tornillos para liberar las piezas y al hacerlo descubrir que están atornilladas porque si inclinas mucho la lámpara ésta se voltea. Esto no debería de pasar, se supone que esta lámpara tenga una base que soporte todos las posiciones que desees, a final de cuentas optaron por una solución bastante barata. Hay otras cosas en cuanto al diseño que no valen tanto la pena mencionar, pero tengan eso en cuanta, la lámpara es bonita, pero en cuanto a su diseño funcional estás recibiendo lo que estás pagando, algo con poca calidad.See my photos. This desk lamp is exactly what I wanted. It’s a traditional desk lamp style but with a beautiful soft pink colour. I took a photo of the lamp beside my pink cricut machine so you can see the difference in the colour. The lamp is a soft, dull pink. It’s not vibrant. It’s a pastel pink. It is matte, not shiny. It throws off a good amount of light and the height and angle are adjustable. It’s sturdy and well made, and a good size.
