Had the desk for about two years without issue. Mounted an old kitchen island countertop to it with room for three monitors. Recommended it to friends who also purchased with great results. I was concerned with the crank handle after reading some reviews about it breaking. It does telescope some, so I mounted the handle so it tucks under the table top when not in use. No issues. The manual cranking is little effort and is about 30 revolutions to go from my sitting position to standing. Worth every penny for at home work!This is an excellent piece of kit. Easy to assemble and sturdy. I was able to build an adjustable shop table for my table saw, these adjustable legs were perfect for my project.Easy to assemble and much sturdier than I thought it would be.Updated on April 06, 2022.This VIVO Compact Stand Up Desk is the smallest adjustable standing table that I could find. I wanted a tabletop that had a 36" width and a 20" depth. But the other brand tables were too big. The smallest that I could find among the other brands was one that had a 40" width and a 24" depth.Also, this VIVO desk is the cheapest of all the adjustable standing tables. The Fully Crank Desk frame was $425, including taxes and shipping. This VIVO was only $182, including taxes and shipping. There were two other brand tables that were similar in price, at around $200, but they still cost more.I was really impressed at how the VIVO desk frame parts were designed, because it felt like they put a lot of effort into figuring out the most genius way to design something sturdy but also easy to assemble.The smallest that you can make the tabletop is 34". I made my tabletop 36". The crank was always in the way of my elbow at first. But the solution is very simple. Pretend that there is a clock where the crank is. Turn the crank so that it is between 3:00 and 9:00 and it won't be in the way of your elbow at all. If your table top ends up being wider than 40", then you'd have nothing to worry about.It takes less than a minute to crank the table up or down, so I don't think anyone needs an electric adjustable table unless they are super lazy and like spending money.The crank started squeaking the second day that I used this table, but someone told me to use lithium grease spray. I used the lithium grease spray once and it never squeaked again since then.I never purchased caster wheels for this table because it is easily 50-60 lbs if I include the weight of my table top. I don't think that I would be able to easily pull or push the table across my short carpet floor. I think that you should only get caster wheels if you have a hardwood or tile floor.Thank you VIVO for making an adjustable standing desk that is more compact and cheaper than the other brands. I thought about trying to make my own adjustable standing desk out of PVC pipes, but it would have cost my around $200 for the pipes, drill, pipe cutter, screws, and pipe cement. It would not have been easy to adjust the table, and it probably would have lacked stability and not worked at all. So you saved me that headache and expense of trying to figure out a way to do it on my own.The VIVO Hand Crank Stand Up Desk Frames are great, especially if you only raise and lower occasionally. I bought this for my wife to go with the VIVO white 63x32inch Universal Table Top (curved front). The one issue that we ran into with this version of the "VIVO Compact Hand Crank Stand Up Desk Frame for 34 to 71 inch Table Tops" was the "compact" part. The VIVO Universal Table Top comes with pre-drilled inset hardware, which is really nice. The only problem was that the compact desk frame doesn't actually extend wide enough to actually utilize this hardware. So I had to utilize the self tapping wood screws that were provided with the compact legs. These screws would be fine it the table top was 3/4 inch thick, but it is about 1/2 inch thick so they actually started to push through the table top. The slightly smaller width of the compact legs is also causing a small issue with the crank handle. Since it sits within the curved front area now, it slightly taps one side when cranking up or down. Other than that it is a great setup. I have the full size normal crank version and it works great. These are a great way to get into the Standing Desk arena, but just beware that there are normal and Compact desk leg sizes. Compact only actually seems to be the connection hardware between the two sets of legs is shorter by about 6 inches than the normal standing desk legs.The assembly for this was very easy.The crank works well to raise and lower the desk, but it started squeaking within a week after it was assembled. Despite the squeaking, it raises smoothly and somewhat slowly. However, I noticed that if I stood in front of it so my body was centered in front of the crank, the squeaking sounds were quite reduced.I wish I had bought one that has buttons and settings, but I was too frugal to buy that. If you do, keep in mind that you potentially need four settings for a personalized one. (One setting for person one sitting, one setting for person one standing, one setting for person two sitting, one setting for person two standing.)Keep in mind that all desks need drawers for your writing utensils, paper, staples, notebooks etc. So we built a light one that attaches beneath the desk top. Be aware that if you do this, you'll need to account the weight of the drawer and hardware and subtract that from the total weight capacity to determine your new weight capacity.The desk is very study, balanced and leveled. No issues about knocking it down, or it being uneven.I think that it is somewhat expensive, but comparing it to other brands, it was cheaper.Overall, it functions as promised, and does well for people who prefer to have the option of sitting and standing. If you buy this, be sure to get an anti fatigue mat if you plan on standing more than sitting.I needed a sturdy sit stand frame to use as a computer station for two computers with monitors on boom arms.Holds everything and is as solid as a rock. Nice smooth action for rising and decent between sitting and standing with little to no effort.Well pleased.
